Trinidad, Colorado – Fresh off of a successful senior season, former Edward Waters star pitcher Richard Edwards (SR/Orange Park, Florida) signed a contract to play for the Trinidad Triggers of the Pecos League. Edwards is the second Tiger to sign with the Pecos League as former Tiger catcher and team captain Jesse Baker won a 2016 PL Championship with the Tuscon Saguaros.

Edwards, who will wear #61 for the Triggers, completed one of the most successful senior seasons on the mound in recent Tiger baseball history in 2017. In his swan song season, Edwards led the Tigers in innings pitched with 100.1, had a 2.60 ERA, an 11-3 record with one save, and 33 strikeouts. Edwards career numbers were superb as well, compiling an 18-10 mark with 10 saves, a 3.33 ERA and 62 career strikouts in 52 appearances for EWC. This season, Edwards was selected as an All-A. I. I. First-Team member and a member of the Elite Team.

The Triggers are based out of Trinidad, Colorado, about 200 miles south of Denver, and play their home games at Trinidad Central Park. They have been in existence since 2012 and currently sit in 3rd place in the PL’s Mountain Division with am 8-6 record.  The Pecos League is considered one of the most successful independent baseball associations in the country. The 12-team league headquartered in Houston, Texas has teams in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, California, and Kansas.
