Houston, Texas – A couple of former Edward Waters baseball stars received some great news on Sunday night as the Pecos League of Independent Baseball announced their selections for the 2019 Pecos League All-Star Game. Shortstop Jordan Pontious and pitcher Richard Edwards, who are both teammated for the Garden City Wind, received their first All-Star nods of their professional career.

Pontious, who is in his rookie campaign for the Wind this season, currently ranks in the top 20 in the Pecos League in batting average, batting .385 with three homeruns and 13 RBIs.

Edwards is in his third season of professional baseball in 2019 and his first with the Wind. He is sixth overall in the Pecos League in earned run average with a 3.65 ERA. He is also 4-0 as a starter and has 12 strikeouts this season. Edwards also was a pitching coach for the Tigers this past season.

The 2019 Pecos League All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, June 30th at Central Park in Trinidad, Colorado with first pitch scheduled for 3:05pm.
