Florida Memorial Lions Continue To Dominate In Conference

After dropping the first game of the series, the Florida Memorial University Lions went on to win the next two games, to win the series 2-1. The Lions took on the (RV) Webber International University Warriors.

In the first game of the series, FMU fell short by one run in the last inning, giving Christian Rivera his first lost of the year, bringing his record to 4-1 on the season. The Lions offense was led by Raymond Gurrero and Chris Clara. Guerrero and Clara combined to go 7-9 with four RBIs in the game.

The second game of the series was the first of a doubleheader, in which it was all Lions. FMU won the second game of the series by a score of 7-0. Edgard Aparacio led FMU to the victory after throwing a complete game shutout. In his shutout, Aparicio, gave up five hits, three walks, and recorded eight strikeouts on the day. Sergio Chil has been on fire lately for the Lions, this time going 3-3 with three RBIs and a two-run homer.

The final game of the series came down to the wire, but the Lions managed to pull out a 5-4 victory over the Warriors. Carlos Alcon earned the no decision in the game after going 6 ? innings allowing four earned runs with two strikeouts. Ian Romano relieved Alcon, throwing 2 ? innings while giving up just one hit and ultimately earning the win. Once again Raymond Guerrero had a good game at the plate for FMU, going 3-5 with a two RBI double in the bottom eighth that gave the Lions the 5-4 lead.

Following this weekend, the Lions improved to 17-8 on the season and 9-3 in conference play, which places them in third place behind Southeastern University and St. Thomas University. The Lions look to add another victory to their record as they take on Florida National University on Tuesday, March 20th at 3:00 pm at Harry T. Moore Baseball Field.
