TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The MEAC announced on Monday that Florida A&M’s Alec Wong was named Player of the Week after his performance against Mercer and North Carolina A&T this past week. This is the second time this season Wong has earned Player of the Week honors as he was previously named Player of the Week after the opening weekend of the season against Marshall.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Wong had one of the best weeks you will ever see at the plate as he hit .722 (13-for-18) in five games with two home runs, a double, nine runs scored. five RBI and a 1.111 SLG%. On top of that, Wong recorded 11 straight hits following his first at bat of the week, which was just three hits shy of the National record of 14.

The Rattlers travel to the MEAC Baseball Tournament this week in Salisbury, MD and will play on Friday, May 20, at 12:00 PM against the winner between NC Central and Delaware State, who play their opening round game on Thursday, May 19 at 3:30 PM. The tournament is held at Perdue Stadium.
