Edward Waters Tigers Cruise To Run Rule Victory Over Trinity Baptist

Edward Waters Sports Information

Jacksonville, Florida – A few days after a rough doubleheader against defending National Champion, Southeastern, Edward Waters got back in the win column in a major way with a 15-2 victory over in-city rival Trinity Baptist in seven innings in a non-conference contest Friday afternoon at James P. Small Memorial Baseball Park.

The Purple & Orange scoring barrage came early and often throughout the contest. Already leading 7-2 going into the home half of the fifth inning, the Tigers’ big inning occured thanks to seven more runs which put the game out of reach. Edward Waters added one more in the next half inning to bring an early close to the contest, thanks to the “run rule”.

Center fielder Freddy Torres led Edward Waters at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI’s and one run scored. Designated hitter Wyatt Reid, first baseman Cayden Frankie, and third baseman Tyler Rich all went 2-for-4 hitting for Edward Waters as well.

Freshman Levi Sigler earned another victory on the mound for Edward Waters, going 4.0 inning, allowing 2 earned runs, and striking out two Eagles. Fellow freshman Marco Trejo finished things off for EWC, going 3.0 innings, and allowing zero hits.

Edward Waters and Trinity Baptist will play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Trinity Ballyard on Jacksonville’s westside. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.
