BALTIMORE – The Coppin State baseball team has been projected to win the MEAC regular season and tournament titles by D1baseball.com, it was announced by the website earlier this week.
In a profile of each team, D1Baseball.com specifically mentioned how the Eagles return its top three starting pitchers in Jahmon Taylor, redshirt junior Aaron Rea and senior Branden Redfern, its career saves leader in junior Corey Treyes, and a pair of First Team All-MEAC hitters with Nazier McIlwain and Derek Lohr.
Senior second baseman Erik Crossman, who received Second Team All-MEAC honors last season, was also included among CSU returning standouts.
Three Eagles were picked among the MEAC’s top ten prospects for the 2019 Draft with JUCO transfer Justin Banks, Taylor and McIlwain. Additionally, Lohr and sophomore outfielder Marcos Castillo were mentioned in the league’s top five prospects for the 2020 Draft.
Finally, freshman Matt Day was projected as the league’s Freshman of the Year.
