BALTIMORE, MD – Coppin State University’s baseball team is preparing for the upcoming 2017 season with some fall practice. Seventh year head coach Sherman Reed and his Eagles welcome in 19 newcomers with the return of 16 letterwinners led by seniors Bryant Miranda and Clinton Arnold.

Miranda is an infielder and was the Eagles 2016 leader in batting average (.333), runs scored (52), hits (64), stolen bases (16), games started (52) and at bats (192). In the MEAC conference he ranked fourth in runs scored, tied for sixth in stolen bases and tied for ninth in batting average. Miranda recorded the conferences’ season-high runs scored total in a game with five versus Fairleigh Dickenson.

Arnold is an outfielder that returns to the Eagles lineup after only playing in five games due to a season-ending injury in 2016. Defensively he had 16 putouts sporting a .941 fielding percentage. He also belted three hits in a series against NYIT.

The Eagles will hold a blue and gold intra-squad scrimmage on Tuesday, Oct. 11th at 3:15 p.m. on the Druid Hill Park field in Baltimore, MD.
