NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University Athletics Director Marty L. Miller announced Friday that Spartans baseball coach Claudell Clark has been promoted to the position of assistant athletics director for external affairs/head baseball coach.

As a result of his fundraising success for the baseball program in recent years, Clark will assume additional duties of increasing revenue and funding for the entire athletics program. His additional duties will not interfere with his primary responsibilities as head baseball coach, a post he has held since 2005.

“Coach Clark has done a tremendous job of fundraising to enhance his program and we look forward to achieving similar results for the entire athletics department,” Miller said.

Clark led the Spartans to a 27-16 record and their first-ever MEAC Northern Division regular-season title this past season en route to conference Coach of the Year honors. He has also been instrumental in increasing revenue which has resulted in numerous baseball program enhancements, including a new LED scoreboard and several improvements to the playing surface at Marty L. Miller Field, among other successes
