Marion, N.C. – The Claflin University baseball team defeated Bluefield State College, 10-3, Sunday, May 5 in the consolation game of the Division II Independent Baseball Tournament at Lake James in Marion, N.C.

With the win, the Panthers ended the tournament with a 2-3 record and a fourth place finish.

Christian Buford, who played in his final collegiate baseball game, picked up the win for the Panthers.

Claflin was led in the contest by Craig Hopkins, who went 3-for-3 with a home run and two doubles.

Clyde Parker, Edzaviah Paul and Kyriq Woods had two hits each.

Claflin finished the 2019 season with a 25-18 record, eight more wins than last season.
