HAMMOND, La. – In its final game against a non-SWAC opponent, the Alcorn State University baseball program is set to take on Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond.

The Braves (10-25, 6-12 SWAC) took a game from Jackson State this past weekend to snap the Tigers 12-game winning-streak. Alcorn currently sits in fourth-place in the SWAC East Division but is just one game behind Alabama A&M for third. The Braves and the Bulldogs will play this weekend in Huntsville, Alabama.

Junior Wallace Rios Jimenez is on a league-leading 32 game on-base streak. Rios ranks fourth in the SWAC in on-base percentage with a .469 mark. He also leads the team with a .339 batting average and 12 multi-hit games.

Also hitting above .300, sophomore Brandon Barna carries a .305 average into the contest. He hit two homers last week in the opener against Mississippi Valley State. He homered in the same inning as older brother Justin Barna as they combined for three home runs in the contest.

Out of the bullpen, sophomore Conrado Skepple leads the conference with five saves. He earned one on Sunday in Alcorn’s 9-6 victory over JSU.

Alcorn’s biggest inning has been the eighth where it has outscored opponents 27-20.

SLU (24-15, 12-9 SLC) took two out of three from Nicholls State over the weekend. The Lions are 13-5 at home this year.

Taylor Schwaner leads the team in nearly every statistical category at the plate. He’s hitting for a .368 average with 12 homers, 55 RBI and a .743 slugging percentage.

The Braves will resume conference play this weekend in a three-game series at AAMU. Game one is slated for 3 p.m. Friday.
