DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Michael Cruz has been selected as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, as well as Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week as a catcher, announced Monday, March 28, 2016. The announcement came from the MEAC Office in Norfolk, Virginia, as well as the Collegiate Baseball News home office in Tucson, Arizona.

B-CU Michael Cruz 2Cruz, a 5-11, 210-pound junior catcher/designated hitter from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, batted .583 (7-for-12), with five home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs scored and seven walks against North Florida, Miami (Fla.) and North Carolina A&T State. He powered the Wildcats with a game-winning home run, in a 4-2 win over North Carolina A&T State. Also, he did not commit an error in 15 chances last week, recording 13 putouts and two assists.

For Cruz, he has now registered eight home runs in the last seven games for the Maroon and Gold. That includes the go-ahead run against the Aggies in the series-clinching rubber game at home inside Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark over the weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida.
