NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman redshirt senior Brandon Wilkes was selected as this week’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Co-Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon from the league office in Norfolk, Virginia.

Wilkes, a 6-2, 210-pound native of Holly Hill, Florida, was a combined 8-for-15 at the plate (.553) this past week for the Wildcats, with seven RBIs and three runs scored. He had five doubles and a home run during the week, and his bat helped Bethune-Cookman take a three-game series against Boston College. He also picked up the win in the opener of the Boston College series, pitching in relief. In the last two Boston College games, Wilkes was 6-for-9 at the plate with seven RBIs. He had three doubles on Saturday, and on Sunday, he had two doubles and a homer.

This week’s other MEAC Co-Player of the Week was Coppin State sophomore Marcos Castillo. The CSU infielder recorded back-to-back three-hit, three-RBI games in a series win over Albany.

Bethune-Cookman is back in action Friday, March 1, at 6 p.m., when the Wildcats host Ohio State to Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark for the first of a four-game series against the Buckeyes.
