Baseball Wins Series Against The 9th Ranked Pilots of LSUS

Shreveport, Louisiana—-The Bulldog baseball team traveled to Shreveport, Louisiana over the weekend to take on 9th ranked Louisiana State University-Shreveport in a four game series at Pilots Field. JCC took three out of the four games from the Pilots to win the series on the road.

Game One: JCC 2 – LSUS 1

Game one saw a pitching battle between Andres Machuca for the Bulldogs and David Diaz of the Pilots. Andres Machuca kept the Pilots offense silent allowing only one unearned run in the bottom of the third off a Kade Billeaudeaux single to shallow center through six innings of work.

Ronald Regalado got things going for the Bulldogs in the sixth with a single to center field. Deandre McGuire then reached on a walk advancing pinch runner Caleb Gilder to second base. Javion Randle singled to deep center scoring Caleb Gilder and advancing McGuire to third, advancing to second on the throw. Vance Moody reached on an intentional walk loading the bases for Carlos Andrade whom drew a walk to bring in the go ahead run.

Oliver Inzunza retired the Pilots in the seventh inning to secure the win and pick up his second save on the week.

Game Two: JCC 3 – LSUS 1

JCC starter Marcus Jones kept the momentum on the Bulldogs side retiring the first six Pilots batters pitching a shutout into the eighth inning allowing only four hits and one run improving to 4-1 on the season with a 2.31 ERA.

Javion Randle went 3-3 at the plate with a run scored and RBI. Carlos Andrade accounted for the other two runs with two RBIs going 2-4 in the game. Lamarr Blanson and Vance Moody accounted for the rest of the Bulldogs hits.

Game Three: JCC 8 – LSUS 0

After a one-two-three inning for the Bulldogs to start the game against starter Jared West, the Bulldogs manufactured two runs in the second, two runs in the third, and an explosive four run fifth inning to sail past the Pilots 8-0.

Ryan Shockey completed the game for the Bulldogs on the mound allowing only three hits, striking out three in 88 pitches.

Oliver Inzunza led the Bulldogs offensively going 3-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

Game Four: JCC 8 – LSUS 10

After dropping the first three games to the Bulldogs, the Pilots offense finally awoke in game four accounting for three runs in the 1st, three runs in the 5th, two runs in the 6th, one run in the 7th, and one run in the 8th off 12 hits and two homeruns.

The Bulldogs answered back with one run in the 5th, three runs in the 6th, and four runs in 8th, but couldn’t catch up falling to the Pilots 10-8.

Javion Randle, Carlos Andrade, Oliver Inzunza, and Adrian Lopez all accounted for multiple hits in the loss.

JCC improves to 16-16 overall and 8-6 in conference play after the series.

The Bulldogs travel to Tyler, Texas to take on the University of Texas-Tyler Tuesday night at 6:30PM in a single nine-inning non-conference game against the Patriots.
