Wildcats and Dolphins to meet in nationally broadcast contest

 

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman continues its 10-game road trip this week, traveling to Jacksonville University on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. contest to be televised nationally on ESPN3. Tuesday’s game is the only midweek game this week for the Wildcats who host conference foe North Carolina A&T in Sanford, Florida this upcoming weekend.

Tuesday’s game marks the first television game of the year for the Wildcats. Last season, Bethune-Cookman played in four televised games, including three during the Coral Gables [Fla.] Regional.

Bethune-Cookman-Jacksonville Series History

  • Jacksonville leads the all-time series between the two schools by a commanding, 36-13 margin.
  • Bethune-Cookman has won five of the last 10 meetings in the series.
  • The two teams split a two-game series last year, while B-CU claimed both games in 2013.
  • Jacksonville won this year’s previous meeting between the two teams, 15-6 in Daytona Beach on March 10.

  • Pitcher Joseph Calamita has allowed just a single earned run in 16.1 innings and 13 appearances out of the bullpen on the year – that run coming this past weekend at North Carolina Central.
  • Senior pitcher Keith Zuniga has logged wins in his last three starts, including a 4-2 decision over North Carolina in the series-opener this past weekend.
  • First baseman Austin Garcia did not start the first part of the year, but has hit at a .387 clip and tallied 10 RBI on 12 hits over the course of the last 10 games for the Wildcats.
