MEMPHIS – In the midst of a 12-game road swing, the Alcorn State University baseball program will travel to Memphis for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch Wednesday at Fed Ex Park.

Junior Wallace Rios Jimenez is on a league-leading 24 game on-base streak. He ranks second in the SWAC in on-base percentage with a .500 mark. Rios is also sixth in the conference with a .365 batting average.

Also hitting above .300, junior Kirt Cormier carries a .313 average into Wednesday. Cormier leads the team in extra base hits with five doubles and two homers. He’s on a 15-game on-base streak.

Junior Der’Vincent Hamilton has been hot as of late and is on a nine-game hitting streak.

Sophomore Conrado Skepple leads the SWAC with four saves on the season. He hoists a 2.45 ERA in 14 appearances in relief.

Alcorn’s (7-20, 3-9 SWAC) biggest inning has been the eighth where it has outscored opponents 21-10.

Memphis (19-9, 2-1 AAC) opened conference play this past weekend where it took two of three from Cincinnati on the road. The Tigers also defeated Belmont 6-0 on Monday.

Senior outfielder Chris Carrier is the reigning AAC Hitter of the Week winner and leads the team with five homes and a .565 on-base percentage. Junior outfielder Tyler Webb leads the team with a .329 batting average.

The Braves, who have reached the midway point of their conference schedule, will have the weekend off from competition.
