ALBANY, Ga. – A total of 22 home games, a few perennial non-conference opponents and competitive league contests will highlight the 2017 Albany State baseball schedule, which was released today by ASU head coach Brandon Hemmings. The slate includes 43 contests.
The Golden Rams, who finished the 2016 season with a 17-35 overall record and the SIAC East Division Championship, will open their season on the road against in-state rival Valdosta State on Feb 3. ASU will then open its home slate with the Blazers on Feb. 7.

Albany State’s other non-conference opponents also include GA Gwinnett College, Lee University and Georgia Southwestern State University. Columbus State University and the University of West Georgia, teams that participated in the 2016 NCAA Division II national tournament, are also on the schedule.

After facing several regional opponents, Albany State will open SIAC play Mar. 18-19 with a three-game series against LeMoyne-Owen College. ASU also has conference series scheduled with Benedict (Mar. 25-26), Clark Atlanta University (Mar. 31-April 1), 2016 tournament champion Claflin University (April 8-9), Morehouse College (April 14-15), Paine College (April 21-22), and Kentucky State University (April 29-30).

The Golden Rams will compete in the 2017 SIAC Baseball Championship Tournament May 3-7. The site for the tournament will be determined at a later date.
