MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University baseball team will look to keep its winning streak rolling this weekend as the Hornets welcome Alcorn State for a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series starting on Friday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

Alabama State (11-15 overall, 7-2 SWAC) enters the weekend off a 6-5 win over Florida A&M in a non-conference game in Tallahassee, Fla. The Hornets have won four straight games and will seek their second consecutive SWAC series sweep.

Alcorn State (7-17, 3-6) has lost seven straight and are seeking its first win since March 17 when the Braves defeated Jackson State, 5-4. Alcorn State dropped a pair of mid-week games to Nicholls State and were swept last weekend at home against Alabama A&M.

The Hornets defeated Mississippi Valley State in the series opener last weekend, 14-2, but had to fight hard to take the series with two games on Sunday. Alabama State defeated the Delta Devils, 7-6 in 10 innings and 7-5 in seven innings to earn its first sweep of the year.

Alabama State will send Tyler Howe, Burke Echelmeier and Terrell McCall to the mound this weekend.

Regynold Johnson, Daniel Belmont and Carlos Lopez will start on the bump for Alcorn State.

First pitch on Friday from the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex is at 6 p.m.
