Alabama A&M Bulldogs’ Pierre Brewton To Carson McGregory Is Top SWAC Combo

Alabama A&M Sports Information

HUNTSVILLE – Last season, Pierre Brewton was a reserve infielder on the Bulldogs baseball team.
He was on the bench watching and observing the top double-play team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
This year, he got his opportunity to crack the starting infield – and he’s making the best of it.
Also last year, first baseman Carson McGregory was in junior college and on his way to a  Gold Glove season.
Now, the two are united to form the nucleus of a solid Alabama A&M infield.
Brewton leads the SWAC with 85 assists and McGregory has a league-high 215 putouts. McGregory is second in fielding 19 double plays and Brewton is ninth with 13 double plays.
The duo – and the rest of the Bulldogs – will see a lot of action this weekend when the hard-hitting Jackson State Tigers come to The Hill for a three-game SWAC Eastern Division series.
JSU is the league’s top-hitting team with a .321 batting average and they boast three of the SWAC’s top seven hitters.
The Bulldogs are 5-4 in the SWAC, just one game behind second-place JSU at 6-3. Alabama State – who will visit A&M next weekend – is in first with a 7-2 record, best in the conference.
Friday’s and Saturday’s A&M-JSU games start at 3 p.m. and Sunday’s series finale is 1 p.m.
