ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its baseball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.

Russell Sims (Kentucky State) was named Player of the Week, while Jacob Lagos (Benedict) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Russell Sims, Kentucky State

Sims was spectacular for the Thorobreds, hitting .481 over seven games in which two contests came against Division I opponents, Murray State and Eastern Kentucky University. The 6’1 senior finished with a slash line of .481/.548/.566 and recorded hits in all seven games. Sims notched multiple hits in four of the contests and finished with eight RBIs as KSU went 3-1 against Morehouse.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Lagos, Benedict

Lagos pitched a complete-game 1-hitter last week as the Tigers faced conference opponent, LeMoyne-Owen. The junior pitcher struck out 10 and walked two. Lagos pitched one inning versus Anderson earlier in the week, giving up two hits and one run. For the week, the Arizona native pitched eight innings, allowing three hits, one run and striking out 10.
