Eighteen Former Winston Salem State Baseball Players on the Move

Eighteen former members of the 2019 Winston Salem State University baseball team have transferred to other programs for the 2019-2020 school year after WSSU announced this past May that it would be terminating baseball in favor of forming a golf program. The decision was based upon athletic department budgetary issues.

Winston Salem State baseball finished with a 35-16 overall record last season and were ranked No. 1 in Black College Nines National Top 10 HBCU Baseball Poll, claiming its fourth HBCU national baseball title.

While the 2019 season did not end the way the Rams faithful would have liked, the university gave the players a stamp of approval for transferring, with some players landing at top DI, HBCU, DII, NAIA and JUCO baseball programs.

Players Cole Parks and Tyler Daniels transferred to HBCU baseball programs. Parks joins the North Carolina A&T Aggies. Last year at the plate, Parks hit six home runs with 36 runs batted in and on the mound he was 10-2 record with 102 strikeouts in 86.2 innings pitched. Tyler Daniels joins Alcorn State. In 31 games, Daniels  batted .323.

Other notable player moves are Jalen Scott (now at UNC Pembroke) who sported as a good freshmen season with a 6-4 record and a 3.76 earned run average and Parker Strader (now at Greensboro) who was 4-1 in 45.1 innings pitched while striking out 31 batters.
