The Edward Waters’ baseball program recently held its second annual alumni game on January 16, 2016. Twenty-two former baseball players participated and were coached by former EWC coaches Al and Carl Burden.
The day featured a home run derby prior to the game. The competition was won by Charles Thomas, who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.
Members of the alumni team returning for the game in addition to Charles Thomas included Bryan Fitzpatrick, who finished third in the country (NAIA) in hitting his senior year with a .477 average in 2010, Reynaldo Otero, who played professionally with the Independent League Sussex County Miners and last year’s captain and all-american, Jesse Baker.
The game pitted former players against the current 2016 EWC team which won 9-2.
