Dover, Del. – A golf outing has been added to the Delaware State baseball team’s annual Mike Ingram Alumni Weekend this year. The First DSU Baseball Golf Outing is set for Friday, Nov. 6 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club west of Dover. The golf registration starts at 11 a.m., with the event to begin at noon.

The cost is $100 per player and $400 for a foursome. There’s a $100 hole sponsorship and players will compete for prizes.

On the evening of Nov. 6, the annual Delaware State Baseball Alumni Mixer will be held at Grotto Pizza on Route 13 in Dover across from the DSU campus. The event begins at 8 p.m.

The weekend festivities continue with a home run derby and the alumni game on Sat., Nov. 7 at Soldier Field on the DSU campus.

There’s a $20 fee for the home run derby, which begins at 9 a.m.

The alumni game will pit the 2016 Hornets against a team of former DSU players. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. The game is free of charge to all participants, although donations will be accepted.

The annual Hornets’ Alumni Game is named in honor of former player and DSU grad, Mike Ingram, who lost his life in a Thanksgiving 2010 traffic accident in Philadelphia. Ingram, a native of Newark, Del., pitched for the Hornets from 2006 to ‘09. Prior to enrolling at Delaware State, Ingram was a baseball and basketball standout at Glasgow (Del.) High School.

The game MVP will be awarded a trophy in honor of the late Kelly Williams, the former Hornet shortstop who succumbed to cancer in 2014.
