2015 CIAA Baseball Conference Championship

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) 2015 Baseball Conference Championship event set to take place April 30th- May 2nd at USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, NC., will welcome four of its five members to compete for an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament. The four-team bracket will be a double-elimination format, with the winners squaring off in a one-game championship on Saturday afternoon.

This year’s tournament top seeds Winston-Salem State University, the No. 1 ranked team as ranked by Black College Nines (BCN) for Historically Black College and University (HBCU) baseball programs along with No. 3 Virginia State University also ranked in the (BCN)baseball poll, Chowan University and Saint Augustine’s will play in the conference tournament.

Winston-Salem State the top seed in the CIAA leads the conference with a record of 12-1, 32-13 overall; Virginia State 8-5 in the CIAA, 23-13 overall, Chowan University is 9-7, 20-18 overall while Saint Augustine’s enters the tournament 4-8, 15-24 overall.

Both WSSU Rams and VSU Trojans have won the last seven conference championships. VSU was triumphant in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The last four years have been ruled by the Rams.
